There are different fences for different applications. For example, you can get an indoor wireless fence and you can get an outdoor wireless fence. The first choice you have to make is, do you want an indoor or outdoor fence; this should be a simple decision to make! If you want an outdoor fence, then you have a couple more things to consider.

Stubborn Dog
This collar is for the tough dogs, the ones which are very stubborn and never do what you want them to do. With this fence, your dog has to weigh over 20lbs and be over 6 months old. You will find it difficult to find a more potent invisible fence in the stores. The standard kit allows you create a fence which will contain a dog within an area of 1/3 of an acre. You can buy additional wire and extend this up to 10 acres.
PetSafe Fence - Deluxe
This PetSafe fence is suitable for most dogs. You can cover an area up to 25 acres so making it a lot more versatile than either the stubborn or standard fence. You must take note that to use this PetSafe fence your dog must be at least eight pounds in weight and 26 weeks in age.
Standard Fence
The PetSafe standard underground fence was produced with not only small dogs in mind but cats too, it has the smallest collar receiver, obvious to say it is no good for stubborn dogs. The reason it can be used on larger felines and small pet dogs is because of the weight of the receiver collar which is only 1.2 oz. However, please note that the furry friend should weigh five pounds and over. The standard PetSafe fence cannot contain a large area like the deluxe model. It has the same coverage as the stubborn dog, which is up to ten acres.
The Wireless Fence
The PetSafe wireless fence covers an area in diameter up to 180 feet. If you want to increase this area then you can buy another transmitter which doubles this area. If you want simplicity and very fast setup then go for the wireless fence, if you need to cover a very large area, and you want a specific shaped boundary then you need the underground fence.
