It is always advisable that while replacing your ink cartridge in your printer, you follow the steps advised by the manufacturer. · To begin with, always ensure that the printer is plugged in before you open the printer’s lid. Thus, the moment you open the lid, the cradle for the printer cartridge should swiftly slide out towards the centre from under the cover of the printer. Next, wait for the cradle to stop.
· Now, remove the inkjet printer cartridges from their packages. While removing the cartridges from the package, ensure that you always pick it up from the top and not the bottom. To help you identify the top of the cartridge and its bottom too, there are gold contacts and a piece of tape at the bottom. Touching the bottom of the cartridge may damage it.
· Now, go ahead and remove the tape from the bottom of one inkjet cartridge. It is important to know that you should never remove the tape from the cartridges until you have to install them.
· The next step is to place the cartridges in the cradle. While doing so, always ensure that you place the bottom of the cartridge first in the cradle. Once you are able to place the tip of the cartridge to the bottom of the cradle, slowly push the cartridge backwards away from you towards the back of the cradle. Once it reaches its position it will automatically lock into its place. Before you install the cartridges, find out which cradle is for coloured cartridges and which is for the black one. If you are not sure, then consult the set up guide of your printer.
· If there are two cradles in your printer, then you need to repeat the same installing procedure for the other cradle.
· After installing the cartridges correctly into the cradle, close the lids. Your printer is now ready for use.

In such situations, instead of replacing the cartridge, first check for the purge or clean command on your computer. After you choose this command your printer will print one or two pages.
Now, check if the print is proper. If not, repeat the procedure again. If it is still not perfect, then you can think of replacing the cartridge.
With the above mentioned tips you can safely replace the cartridges in your printer without causing any damage to the cartridges itself or the printer.
