Skin Care - Just Three Easy Steps

Society is eternally attracted to youth. Sometimes though, even when we feel young, our skin can betray our inner beauty by making us appear older than we feel. Especially as you age, it is important to the time to care for your skin. Your skin will thank you by being healthier and by looking and feeling better. Which skin care treatments can you use to keep your skin healthy and looking its best? Here are a few anti-aging skin care steps you can take to ensure that your skin holds up against the test of time.

It isn't easy, but try not to be tempted by the hundreds, even thousands, of products on the market. Many of these products make exciting claims, but most of them do not live up to those claims. While there are products out there with definite benefits for your skin, most important is to know how to treat your skin. From there you can develop a skin care treatment plan that incorporates only the products you need.

First of all, you should have a basic skin care routine. This means cleansing your face with a gentle cleanser at morning and at night, along with a toner rich in antioxidants. At night you might want to use an ex foliating scrub, but for sensitive faces only use once every three or four days. Finally, use a moisturizer in the morning before you put on your makeup, and at night just before you go to bed.

You will want to add a little more time to your skin care routine as you get older. For example, you will want to incorporate an eye treatment into your morning routine and a night cream into your evening routine. These creams are formulated especially for the delicate area around the eyes, where the skin looses elasticity and will be the first area to show wrinkles.

Most importantly, you should always use a sunscreen with at least a rating of at least 15. The sun is more damaging than anything else. The sun's harmful rays will not only prematurely age your skin, causing unsightly wrinkles, but may cause skin cancer, one of the most common cancers affecting Americans.

Also harmful to your skin, and health, is cigarette smoke, even if it is just second-hand. If you smoke, seek aid to quit, and if you spend a lot of time around a smoker or in a smoke-filled location, try to find ways you can change that - not just for your skin, but for your health as well. Even if your skin looks great, lung cancer can strike and it your skin really won't matter.

Finally for some serious skin care, such as acne or similar spots, please see a dermatologist. They will help you set up a plan specifically fit to your needs. Above all it is very important to remember that even though you dont feel as if you have to take care of your skin today, anti-aging skin care works best when done preventively, so if you take care of your skin today tomorrow your skin will look and feel great.
