Prom Safety Tips – How To Get Involved In The Prom Party
Proms used to be such lovely and peaceful affairs back in the days and no one really thought that safety at proms of all places would be such a big issue. Sadly, with changing times, this fact has changed as well and now prom safety has become a major concern amongst most parents.
Prom safety was initially the responsibility of the organizers of the prom party but now most parents are taking things into their own hands. There are several areas that need handling and hence organizers often fall short of manpower when implementing safety measures. So it will be easy for parents to get involved in to the prom party.
One main area of concern is crowd control. The fathers will be especially good at this because of their physical strength and appearance. This will be similar to acting like the bouncer and if you have always wanted to act like a club bouncer (black t-shirt, grave look), this is your golden opportunity! The main job is to stop the uninvited guests from gatecrashing at the party. This is very important because sometimes these uninvited people are the ones who start the trouble. And too many people in a small place is always a bad idea.
Another job is to look at the safety of the various spots on the venue. This will include closing up potholes that could cause accidents, getting rid of jagged edges, etc. This might sound like nitpicking but this will make things run along much smoother by eliminating these small accidents so that you have the time to concentrate on the larger areas.
Get one or two people to oversee and help with serving the food and drinks. This will help avoid any problems with the food area getting over crowded and will also rule out any chances of someone tampering with the food. A spiked punch can quickly throw a perfectly good party down the drain. This might be somebody's idea of a joke but the organizers might get arrested on charges of serving alcohol to minors.
Every venue has at least one and usually more than one place where there is a chance to escape the supervisors and do something that will go unnoticed. These are places like dark corners, cellars, storeroom etc. To make sure that no one takes undue advantage of these places, make sure that someone pays a visit to these areas often during the party.
But all this has to be done without appearing to be overtly interfering. This is the time to act like a secret agent, if you have always wanted to be one. This is very important because the kids need to have fun and they do not need to feel surrounded and constantly watched over. It will ruin the party; so just be on the sidelines and smile at them. The important thing is to make sure that everyone is at ease and having fun.
