Netbooks Are Popular Airport Companions

Netbooks are a recent trend in the computer industry. In an effort to get more and more portable and convenient, computer manufacturers are taking the laptop a step further and giving the consumer something that can easily be taken almost anywhere in a simple bag or purse. They are compact and easy to use, even in a crowded airport.

We've all been there. Sitting around, waiting an extremely long time before we can even board the flight or counting the hours until a delayed flight arrives. This can, if you're not careful, lead to a lot of unproductive (or simply boring) time. You could have taken a laptop because they are fairly portable, but a netbook may still be the better choice.

Laptops have gotten smaller throughout the years, but they are still comparatively large, and can generate a lot of heat. If you plan on using it for an extended period, and you really only have your lap for it to rest on, things can get uncomfortable pretty fast. All computers generate heat, but most netbooks are much more energy efficient and won't produce the BTUs of their larger cousins. And, of course, because of its smaller size, you don't have to rest it in one spot all the time.

Netbooks were never intended for heavy use - which is to say that these are not computers for hardcore gamers or creating some serious multimedia productions. If, on the other hand, you are going to watch some movies, listen to music, or keep in touch with your favorite multimedia sites (exactly the kind of thing you'd be doing at an airport) netbooks might be the ideal choice.

A netbook is not as powerful as a full-featured laptop, but there are still a number of qualities that make it worthwhile, especially if you have to do extensive travelling. First of all, the price is set much lower than standard laptops. Netbooks let you stay in touch without breaking the bank.

Another benefit is the smaller size. Most netbooks are between nine and eleven inches across. That means they are also comparatively light weight, which means you it won't drag you down as you quickly make your way across the airport terminal to catch a flight.

A netbook is also going to be equipped with some impressive wireless equipment, and there are a lot of places in an airport that have areas set up where you can connect to the Internet. That means it will be easy to get your emailing and social networking done while you wait.

Netbooks continue to grow in popularity and technology. Every model brings out new features while keeping to an ultra-compact size and weight. If you do a lot of travelling and find yourself in many different airports, this just might be the way for you to remain productive no matter where you go.
