Every year car magazines publish their lists of what either they or their readers consider to be the top cars to buy and Auto Express is no exception. In May of 2011 they published their ‘Top 100’ list as voted by the public. In total more than 23,000 people voted in this survey making it the biggest of its type in the UK.
And the best performing make by far was Skoda with three of the top five vehicles coming from this Czech car manufacturer. Voted the best car of them all was the new Skoda Superb which clearly lives up to its name. The Superb is available in either a saloon/hatchback or an estate and can according to Auto Express be an executive saloon, a family car or an MPV. They think that only prejudice against the Skoda badge prevent it from being more popular than what it is. But although it might not be the most sold, it’s clearly the most liked amongst its owners.
The other two Skoda vehicles in the top five list are the Skoda Yeti and the Skoda Octavia. The Skoda Superb scores a mighty 92.06 percent while the Octavia in fourth place scores 90.23. In comparison the highest ranked BMW is the 3-series which comes in at number 35 with a score of 85.45 percent.
Factors taken into consideration when rating the cars were performance, reliability, comfort, handling, braking, running costs, build quality, ease of driving, practicality and ride quality. In addition to the overall top 100 list, the survey also crowned the ‘best for’ in each of these categories and also crowned the best vehicle in each car class category ranging from small cars to people carriers. The Skoda Superb naturally picked up the best family car category accolade as well as the best overall.
So next time you’re looking for a new vehicle why not check out this Czech offering and look at a
used Skoda. Salisbury is one place you should find a dealership.
