Finding the right jeans for you Article

Getting a pair of jeans that both look the business and are comfortable to wear for long periods is no easy task. Everyone is different, and what looks great on one person can look absolutely terrible on another. Here are some hints and tips to bear in mind next time you are out shopping for jeans.

Mens jeans tend to fall into one of two categories, work wear and fashion wear, although there is some crossover. Work wear tends to be looser and more comfortable to wear for long periods, but if you are looking for something to wear on a night out, you may want to wear something a little tighter.

Take a few different styles of jeans into the dressing room with you, even if you do not think that they will flatter your body shape. You might surprise yourself.

It is no use having a pair of jeans that look great but are not comfortable to wear. Rather than just standing around looking in the mirror, you should walk around in them, sit down, bend down and jump around and make sure that it is comfortable to do so.

Try to find a style that complements your body shape. For example, slim figures tend to suit straight or skinny jeans, whereas curvier figures can suit boot cut or flared styles.

If you have broad shoulders or big feet, skinny jeans can overemphasise this fact. In this situation, flares and boot cut jeans can balance out your proportions for a more flattering effect.

If you are very tall or very short, you may want to wear a pair of jeans that do not over emphasise your height or lack thereof. Flared jeans have the effect of making people look shorter, whereas straight cut jeans can give the illusion of height.

Some manufacturers have a standard length fitting, and expect most of their customers to have their jeans shortened by a tailor. This is not too expensive, so if you find a pair of jeans that are perfect in every way apart from the length, do not let this put you off.
