Stonehenge is located in the county of Wiltshire, about 2 miles west of Amesbury and about 8 miles north of Salisbury. One of the most famous prehistoric sites in the world, Stonehenge is composed of earthworks surrounding a circular setting of large standing stones. Archaeologists believe that the iconic stone monument was erected around 2500 BC. This is a world famous landmark and a definite must-see.
Located in the Northern most reaches of Scotland, Loch Ness is not only a beautiful site but is also a place imbued with a mysterious and ancient history. Drive around the loch to spot the Loch Ness monster and stop at any of the lovely local tourist attractions and watering holes. Also notable is Cornwall's Stone Age and industrial archaeology, especially its historic mining landscape, a world heritage site.
