5 Must-See UK Destinations

With so many beautiful tourist attractions within driving distance of many British towns, there is no excuse to stay at home. Give your car a check up, make sure your car insurance in is order and hit the road. Here are the top five must-see destinations in the U.K.
Stonehenge is located in the county of Wiltshire, about 2 miles west of Amesbury and about 8 miles north of Salisbury. One of the most famous prehistoric sites in the world, Stonehenge is composed of earthworks surrounding a circular setting of large standing stones. Archaeologists believe that the iconic stone monument was erected around 2500 BC. This is a world famous landmark and a definite must-see.
Located in the Northern most reaches of Scotland, Loch Ness is not only a beautiful site but is also a place imbued with a mysterious and ancient history. Drive around the loch to spot the Loch Ness monster and stop at any of the lovely local tourist attractions and watering holes. As the driver, be sure not to drink any alcohol, because no car insurance broker will believe that you swerved to avoid running into old Nessie!
The white cliffs of Dover have great symbolic value for Britain because they face Europe across the narrowest part of the English Channel, where invasions have historically threatened England and against which the cliffs form a symbolic guard. Because crossing at Dover was the primary route to the continent before air travel, the white line of cliffs also formed the first, or last, sight of the UK for travellers. Take a different look from a new angle with a self drive tour of the area.
The Lake District is well known for its beautiful hiking trails and is a popular spot for holiday makers. William Wordsworth was so moved by the beauty of the Lakelands that he based many of his poems on sights he discovered the area. The Lake District also contains Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England and is a walker’s paradise. The area is conducive to self drive tours.

Cornwall is the most south westerly county in England, situated on a peninsula lying west of the River Tamar. Cornwall technically includes the Isles of Scilly, located 28 miles offshore, but the Isles cannot be reached by car. Cornwall is noted for its wild moorland landscapes, its extensive and varied coastline and its mild climate. Also notable is Cornwall's Stone Age and industrial archaeology, especially its historic mining landscape, a world heritage site.
With all these sights to see, there is no excuse to not enjoy a local holiday this year. Get the best deal on car insurance and start saving for your trip!
